The Galapagos Islands (including the Galapagos Islands and officially Colón Archipelago) are an archipelago located in the Pacific Ocean 972 km off the coast of Ecuador. It is composed of 13 large volcanic islands, 6 smaller islands and 107 rocks and islets, which are distributed around the earth line of Ecuador. Politically, the islands are a province of Ecuador, whose capital is Puerto Baquerizo Moreno., it is also called Insular Region of Ecuador. On February 12, 1832, under President Juan José Flores, the Galapagos Islands were annexed by Ecuador. From the February 18, 1973 a province of this country.
